Can We Really Trust Internet Marketers?

So this week’s blog post should have been a list of Killer Resources, but that will have to wait until next week as I’m not organised enough to have planned ahead.

Today’s post is back to a threat headline.

Why Can’t We Trust Internet Marketers

Almost everyone you speak to online can tell you about a product or service they bought that was over priced and under delivered. Perhaps even worse is the fact that many of these people fall foul of the same tactics more than once before finding out that they have been diddled.

The worst thing is that these scumbags actually go out and target people they know are new to the world of Internet Marketing.

What Are The Warning Signs?

Here’s how to tell if someone is trying to abuse your trust.

  • Even when you have your credit card in hand all excited you don’t actually know what you’re buying
  • When you do buy a product you’re immediately told that you need to buy extra things to make it work better and give you that instant return on investment faster and easier.
  • Every email you get from them is trying to sell you something
  • You ask support a question and get no answer
  • The product is all filler and no actual information. Telling you to promote the product you just bought to make money is not actually a product.
  • Google is full of fake reviews and testimonials that have been bough from fiverr

How Can We Find The Good Internet Marketers?

It will take time, but eventually you will do some research and find a product or site such as the warrior forum where someone will take you under their wing and teach you how to create a BS radar and keep you on the straight and narrow.

Even better is when someone takes the time to write blog posts that educate you and teach you how to do things that will result in real sustainable online business.

Hint: By telling you the things above it means that I can no longer send you a copy and paste email to something involving russian programmers and a pintest loophole that will make you a gazillion dollars by the weekend.

Learn From The People Who Actually Have Done It

If someone is selling a blogging product but doesn’t use wordpress themselves then what makes them qualified as a teacher? Like I said in the previous post you need to learn from proven experts.

It’s also worth finding half a dozen or so people you connect with, make friends, and learn together.

Go out and find facebook groups or forums that have the same passion as you, and just have fun learning.

Suddenly the learning means that you’re now able to create content and start your own blog. Then you’re ready to start monetizing the content. If you don’t have real content then you are “faking it” and are no better than the scumbags who are selling hopes and dreams.

How Safe Is Your Credit Card From Snake Oil Salesmen?

One of the biggest downfalls of the internet marketing world is the lack of regulation. It really is a throwback to the days when people were actually selling snake oil.

According to wikipedia these medical salesmen would gather a crowd of laborours together and tell them of this wonderous snake oil that would cure all the aches and pains of a hard days labouring.

Then an accomplish in the audience would shout up about how they have used this magic potion, and hand over cash immediately to get a bottle. This social proof would encourage others to start buying, and by the time the unsuspecting workers realised the snake oil did nothing the salesman was in the next town doing exactly the same deal to more unsuspecting customers.

Thankfully with the internet it’s easier to track down the snake oil sellers, but sadly they do exist. The modern day equivalent of the invigoured labourer is the stay at home mom who made $1234 in the first week of turning on the push button automated software that finds a loophole in the google / facebook system. I mean if you can buy now for $37 you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.

Yet once you’ve handed over your credit card details it suddenly changes. Instantly you’ll be told that the system will work much better if you have a list of proven keywords and cheatsheet videos to follow. This will probably be another $97, but as that person on the salespage just like you made so much money this will just make it even easier.

Then the next day your phone will ring to congratulate you about the purchase. Suddenly you’re being told about how you’ve been selected to become a partner and be the next success story of the software. All they need is another payment so that the programme owner can work directly with you 1 on 1. Again you’ll be told not to worry about the cost as the return on investment means the cash will be in your current account before the credit card bill needs to be paid.

Suddenly what started off as a single $37 purchase has become thousands and you a week later you find that the 1 on 1 coaching is not going well, and you’re getting fed a lot of rubbish about how you need to do lots of work and start selling the same product you bought to see this great return.

The moral of this story…

Engage your brain before you buy any information product online.

If you don’t know what you’re buying then it’s just modern day snake oil, so walk away from the deal. When you buy something and the next page tells you that what you’ve bought won’t work without this add-on close the page and contact your card company for a refund.

If you find someone hard selling you instantly report them to what ever authorities you think will be able to prosecute.

Oh, and if someone reccomended such a website to you then report them as well, as they’re no better than the lowlife snake oil salesman trying to get as much money off your credit card before you realise that you’ve been done.

I really hope this post helps educate you in the darker side of the internet marketing world.

p.s. The reason I know this sort of thing happens is that I bought into a matrix programme back in early 2004 and the person who sold me the impossible dream was Justin Blake. If you google his name you’ll see how daft I was.

Are You A Victim?

Hi

As you probably know I still have a real job, it’s almost impossible to do research science without the backing of a large corporation to pay for it!

Anyway we seem to have a new bunch of leaders who are into self development and have decided to create the correct culture that allows us scientists to be innovative and make great molecules that will make a difference to patients, and of course generate billions of dollars worth of sales to keep the shareholders happy…

Now the latest “buzz word” is that we’re all victims. The reason that our drugs are failing to make it onto the market is not our fault. I mean the FDA are getting harder to please, and with the economy failing the government can’t possibly pay those prices. Then all the delays we experience in manufacture are down to the chinese suppliers who are sending us poor quality material, and generally anything bad that happens is down to someone else.

Now when I look at internet marketing the entire business model of many “guru’s” is based on selling to people who this victim attitude. They know that the product about a google loophole is shit, but enough people will be willing to pay $37 and upsold for thousands of dollars based on the dream of easy money.

When it doesn’t work out the buyer will blame everyone else for their failure, and will become bitter and twisted before giving up in frustration.

Compare this to the person who will actually pause to think and evaluate a situation.

If you buy a product emotionally and it turns out to be shit claim your refund, the best thing about clickbank is that they are rock solid on paying out refund requests.

Before you randomly place adverts on websites promoting affiliate links think about setting up a marketing funnel where you can generate leads and follow-up with the people who are interested in what you’re offering. Once you have a funnel that works test out various traffic sources and see if you can spend $50 on traffic and turn it into $100.

I really hope you can see what a difference having the correct attitude can have on your chances of becoming successful online.

Lastly this really ties in with the first of Frank Kern’s “question mark” book was talking about. If you want to become an expert on a subject then the first stage is to go out and tell the world that you’re an expert. So if you do want to know how I’m able to generate internet marketing leads by using safelists then please click here.
