In my work as a scientist I have been trained to seek out the experts in the field and read their research. When it comes to marketing we’re too quick to learn from a charleton with no valid qualifications.

As you will see Glen is a published author and has testimonials from people who I would consider to marketers with at least PhD qualifications. So if I was thinking about investing in a coaching programme then I would seriously consider buying this and learning proven sound marketing methods that worked last year, work today, and will work next year.

Sure the technology to deliver the profits will change, but the actual marketing funnel and selling process won’t.

So these first 3 parts tell you how to optimise your blog for listbuilding, but if you don’t have traffic then you still won’t build your list. I think the video may have missed one method (blame the good weather) but here’s 4 ways to get visitors to your blog.

#1 Write one good quality post a week, regular content encourages repeat visits.

#2 Include a link back to your blog at the niche forum which you visit regularly and give away free advice.

#3 Write brilliant comments on the other blogs in your niche. This builds relationships and shows you’re more than a random affiliate trying to push products.

#4 Guest Blogging. Do this over and above your own weekly posts and make sure you put lot’s of effort in. If you want to know more about guest blogging here’s a great article I read over at MenWithPens.

From Part 1 you know where to put the forms, but what do you need to get people joining your list?

Simply put you need some sort of lead magnet that will add value to your new subscribers. It’s important to realise that by giving away your best content you will create a strong relationship that will result in more sales during the follow-up process.

If you don’t already have a good lead magnet then it’s time to get creative. Go find an expert to interview, combine some old blog posts, or convert a front end product into a giveaway.

In part 3 we’ll be back on the computer showing you how to set up an aweber box in the sidebar.

In this video I highlight several high traffic blogs, and those I read on a regular basis as I joined the owners list as a result of their blogging.

You will see that all of them have a very clear opt-in box either on the top right or a plug-in that displays it across the footer. If you don’t make it obvious then will be guaranteed of is a low conversion! Will you go as far as Chris Brogan & John Thornhill who are shouting out at you to join their lists?

In the next 3 parts I will talk you though what you need to do if you want to start building a list via your blog, including some technical stuff such as installing the aweber wordpress plugin.

Like many many other people in the internet marketing niche I suffer a lot from proscastionation. I have read and listened for hours about online business, but it isn’t until I turn the thoughts in my head into actions that good things happen. For example it has taken a lot of effort to get this blog post online – christmas parties, hangovers, broken wordpress theme, and many many other reasons make the first post in December even though I’ve had dozens of ideas.

The take home message is that if you do nothing then expect nothing to happen.

People won’t pay you for the ideas in your head, but if you turn them into a product and sell the information they will hand over money, and this is the starting point for creating an online business.

Setting up your first website is daunting and despite what everyone says the learning curve is steep at the start, and then once you get to the top it’s another rollercoaster ride to generate traffic and start ot see a return on investment.

Below is a video of someone who is taking the first steps towards building his own list. Ian Clarke purchased my safelistsecrets report and I’m delighted that he’s followed the steps outlined and you can see how he’s now head and shoulders above the majority of other safelist users who are still promoting get rich quick in the hope that someone newer than them will make the same mistakes.

So today I thought it’s about time I recorded my own squeezepage and showed you behind the scenes.

This sticks to the KISS method, Keep It Super Simple. The page fits the window in the browser, it is super targeted to my traffic source, and it’s clear what I’m giving away. Once the email is collected the aweber video gives me a fantastic double opt-in rate and then the download page has many different soft offers.

So I managed to find some quiet time in the house and I’ve managed to record a video showing you a great way I’ve found to increase my social branding by surfing Traffic Exchanges. By watching the video you will see that rather than looking at the pages being advertised I’m looking at the people who are advertising.

I want to connect and form relationships with people who already know what internet marketing is.

As you will see surfing has evolved, and listsurfing, thumbvu, and sitexplosion are all about relationship building.

Please make sure that you have uploaded a picture, and added in the links to your social media sites. The extra traffic and branding this generates is worth so much more than the normal 10 seconds you get to impress during normal surfing.

The content of the video is solid, it does show you a tactic used by Ryan’s staff to half the CPC of their adverts that are targeting the survival niche. It’s a great example of how doing the basics really does save you money.

Again I’ve recorded the opt-in process, very valuable if you want to see how the real experts are setting up squeezepages and adding in easy ways to make their content go viral.

Like all good squeezepages it’s super clear what is being given away, lot’s of arrows pointing to the opt-in box, and the video with pop-up is a classic Ryan Deiss design.
