What happens after a week away from the internet?

So for the last week I’ve been living in a field looking after a dozen scouts with no access to the internet or any of the modern comforts that we take for granted. It was hard work, but great fun.

Now that I’m back at the computer I have so many things to do, but I think information overload is stopping me from doing anything. Here’s a list of possible things to do.

  • watch the last 2 videos of affiliate millionaire
  • read the Kaching book that arrived when I was away
  • complete reading the pro-blogger ebook
  • create content for my listbuildingexpert blog
  • watch the social media section of underground traffic blueprint
  • take action on the article marketing part of underground traffic blueprint
  • find JV partners for my buildabiggerlist site
  • promote my squeezepages with all my safelist accounts
  • catching up on the blog content produced last week I want to read
  • look into outsourcing to do some of the above tasks

As it turns out I managed to do none of the above today, and I think it’s all down to information overload.

I’m not sure how to cure it, but one thing is for sure I’m not going to be buying any more products in the near future, and I think that going back to basics and working on listbuilding is the way forward.

Last week whilst away I added over a hundred new subscribers by 2 swaps set up via safe-swaps so by applying the 80/20 principal this is probably the most profitable option.

Anyway it’s time to go and play in aweber to set up some swaps and broadcast this post.

If you suffer from the same dilemma then I suggest you take time to breath and find out the most profitable way to spend your time.

    Hi,

This a major problem for all.

Most people kinda seem to recognize it…but a lot of us have bee doing the same things for so long…we do not recognize that we do not use a lot of our time very well at all or use it on the wrong things or/and spend to much time on things we need to do…but not for so long each day.

    In 2010 and beyond…

“Time Management Has Now Become Action Management”

These are great resources and I hope you will let them be posted….. I understand if you do not.

    Action Manage Software

(free 9 min video 1/2 way down page)

    Time Management On “Crack”

    ____

Both will help anyone tremendously cut “Information and “Things To Do Overload” and Give YOUR TIME…back to you.

Both of these work hand in hand… If you need the extra help most of us do.

Andrew, I can so relate. I have not been able to be online much in the last month due to multiple challenges. After being away, I feel i have to be retrained and wading thru thousands of emails is daunting. I too am stepping back and taking a good look at what I really want to do. Always a good idea to do that periodically. Thanks for sharing.

It’s pretty freaky that you posted this today because I’m just back from a week in Aviemore, Scotland where I was completely off the grid. And funnily enough, I wrote a blog post whilst I was there on exactly the same thing – Information overload and how to handle it.

I’ll put it up on the blog in the next couple of days and let you know ;)

    Big Love,
    Marc

PS. Glad you’re enjoying Safe-Swaps – I also added hundreds of subscribers whilst I was on holiday.

Yes, there are so many distractions that it is hard to move forward sometimes. At one point, I was oversubscribed to the point of not even being able to go through all the email some days, so I’m trying to downsize some of the non-action stuff myself. I do like to read and study, but you’re right, information overload is one of the great challenges internet marketers face.

Very few methods can beat ad swaps really.
