The Power Of The Upsell…
Last night I finally got round to spending the £50 worth of Amazon vouchers, and mainly due to the power of upsells I end up spending £70! You see almost everypage has a bundle “offer” so the CD I was looking for was made cheaper if I bought it with another CD, which was the same genre of music.
In marketing terms this was a win-win situation, I as a customer feel that I’ve got a bargain, and Amazon as the seller has made 2 sales instead of 1, and will continue to get my business. The key thing that made this upsell work was relevancy and value, together these are a powerfull concept.
On thinking about this concept I actually apply it to my online marketing, when someone downloads a free report I make sure that I use InstantBonusPage on my download pages so that people can view related products & services.
All the products on that page are free, but have killer OTO’s, so the more free stuff I giveaway the more I make, which like above is win-win. You as the customer get great free products, and I as the affiliate get the relationship with the site’s owner’s & the commission from the sales.
When you navigate your way round some of the featured sites keep your eye’s open for links back to my ListBanditExpert site. The reason the other owners agreed to this adswap was because of relationships that resulted from applying the concept of upsells.
I hope this helps you realise how applying the concepts of big business to your online pages can really pay off. The other classic example is the McDonald’s “Would you like to go large” but I’ll leave that for another day.
