Does My Viral Twitter Page Suck?

So I created a new page for a follow-up experiment using the viraltwittetgenerator software

http://twitpwr.com/2TR/ - link opens in new window

Now I think this is a much better page than the blog post I created for twitterblaster, but just by simply posting on my own Twitter account I haven’t had anyone actually tweet the new message.

I’ve tried twice with a different message, so either my twitter traffic isn’t enough to start the viral traffic, or the actual page sucks?

As I’ve broadcasted this post to my list I should generate a decent amount of traffic, so if you decide that you’re not going to tweet could you please post a comment with your reason why.

I’ve got pretty thick skin, so please be honest with your feedback.

Thanks

Andrew

p.s. You can get the viraltweetgenerator software for free, but you should make a donation to a very good cause.

    Hi Andrew,

I think theres too many twitter like sites out there, too new yet,one will have to become dominant, and the others go by the way.

  2. I’d like to know what I’m tweeting about – I’m not a fan of video messages, so all the info I have is what you tell me in your title…

Only MY opinion: people don’t freely give out their emails much, maybe asking for their twitter info is too much? Also I have dial up so anything that pertains to video is basically useless to me. Maybe true for others.

  4. Niche says:

Asking people to leave their twitter account log in and password is a really big ask!

  5. Need to have wiifm immediately your video takes too long to tell me why I should retweet it.

Much better to have natural retweets because of the quality of the content than trying to bribe someone as it is a different culture.

    Dear Andrew,

I enjoy your e-mails a lot, especially since I lived in England for a while in the late nineties in London. However, partly why you do not get the feedback you think you should have, is that people have less and less time to join new things. We are busy, and sometimes days go by before I can even open your e-mails. Every time you turn around you are approached by one social network or another. There are too many established forums, ezines, other entities catering to peoples’ general interests, etc. Also, my initial gut reaction is who wants to twitter? For what purpose? What is a twitter? To me a twitter is a useless background noise. I am a musician. The difference between noise and music is rhythm. There is too much noise pollution in general in our lives anyway, and I am not about to “subscribe” to a twitter group of any sort — it’s kind of like visually wearing rings through ones nose, or lips, etc. What for? People do not have the time for such foolishness. Please find another forum in which to express yourself, more seriously? :) Really.

A good one is StartUpBiz. Look it up in a Google search. That network consists of really neat people who have real businesses promoting real products, for the most part, or new enterprises which are valid and legitimate. I’m not saying that what you say is not legitimate — au contraire — you have a good mind and are very smart, I hope smart enough not to tolerate such a wimpy name as “twitter,” or give that name credence in the greater scheme of life and what you really want to accomplish.

Thanks for hearing me out. I hope I can be more positive in the future and wish you well and love to keep hearing from you. Your baby is precious!

    Yours faithfully, Mary Jane Lang

  7. I have no twitter account yet.
Hard to tweet, I guess, without an account.

Thanks for the comments so far, it has helped me realise that my page probably does suck.

I’ve been listening to WIIFM rather than WIIFY, so it’s little wonder that people aren’t retweeting.

So I’ll need to go back to the drawing board, and make sure that people have a real incentive to retweet because they want to – I’m thinking a contest with a prize

In case you’re wondering WIIFM = what’s in it for me, and WIIFY = what’s in it for you.

This is a very similar site and your biggest competition:

    http://ryanwade.com/i-generated-more-twitter-buzz-than-obama-on-inauguration-day/

It is just more compelling and there is far more incentive to extract highly personal information.

Americans just seem to have this type of promotion down very naturally.

Hey, thanks for the software. I have been on your list for awhile. You always have great info. Your site is just boring, info is ok, but colors are dull. Check out my twitter page at http://www.twitter.com/jackietulos and I will follow you back.

    Hi,

I find it remarkable that so many people have things to talk about on twitter. I spend all day working away trying to make money online so other than saying this which I think would bore people after a while I have nothing to say.

What does everyone else talk about?

    Best wishes
    Christine

wouldn’t go so far as to say your viral twitter page sucks, but it is rather boring and little to get excited about.

I get lost in your video and my mind wanders away. You probably should distill your message to one solid thought, ie: “For what you spend on fast food you can start your own business. Download now.”

Your sign up procedure needs work. As Niche says, Twitter signup and password is a lot to ask for. Most people won’t give you a password. And you don’t need it. Just ask them to follow you and give your twitter address. They’ll do it.

As for the pre-filled entry box, there are better ways of doing that too. You might want to check out the method I used on a little contest page that I’ve linked to my name. Take a look at the code and fairly easy to figure out.

Twitter is just now starting to reach the mainstream, so the best days for any twitter promotion are yet to come. But by getting in early you’ll be prepared when the crowds show up.
