Definition Of A Newbie

To me the word “newbie” is a state of mind that holds many people back

A Newbie is someone who spends their money chasing the dream of creating an online money tree, but even after planting hundreds of acorns no oaks are in sight.

You see the world of internet marketing has set up so that people get caught in what I call the “Newbie Trap”. Far too many people believe the dream that overnight welath can be created from an adwords campaign and the latest much have $47 ebook.

Once you make that first purchase it’s a downward spiral of spending more money and trying to learn everything that you think you need to know. After I purchased my first ebook I was called up and told that if I paid a few thousand and joined a mentoring programme I would be earning tens of thousands within months.

Like a true newbie I was out with the credit card and started trying the coaching calls. Sadly the guy who was training me was totally rubbish, and it was only when I started to do background research I found much more valuable content for free in marketing forums like NetMarketingForum & TheWarrior Forum.

Fast forward a couple of years and now that I’m a bit more savy I want to share 3 tips with you that will help you to get started actually making money.

  1. Stop calling yourself a newbie, and avoid products that are advertised as being suitable for newbies. The people selling these products realise that you have a shiny new credit card and rely on you being green behind the ears and pay copywriters to play on this.
  2. Identify the Mavens that you want to be like. Download the free reports, participate in forums, comment on blogs, and become a student of marketing.
  3. Start building your list. This is easier than sounds, as you don’t need to re-invent the wheel! Rebrand / get giveaway rights for a report you downloaded in step 2, and add your own aweber code and thank-you pages.

Now I hope you understand this, and if you need help with #3 then please get in touch

Andrew

  2. Hi Andrew

    This is so true.

I think I have just come to the conclusions you mention in #1 and have put a stop on my spending. I am now at #2 but #3 has me stumped.

  3. I am very tired of the FREE offers that end in a high price. Some times you are paying the value of allthe free stuff and the end sale that you have to pay for; it may be a part for what every body does, but I will not buy from anyone doing this!
